Obituary for Richard Fred Kunzman

Richard Fred Kunzman, age 83, of Albia, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia. Richard was born on December 16, 1934 in Selma, Iowa to Fred and Esther (Ritz) Kunzman. He was a farmer, and loved John Deere tractors. He enlisted with the United States Army, and was stationed in Germany from 1957 - 1959. He married Elaine Krusemark on October 21, 1989. Richard enjoyed team horses and mules. In 1952, Richard rode a horse from Fairfield to the Iowa State Fair; and fifty-years later, he did it once more. He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Agency; children, Neil (Kelly) Kunzman of Grimes, Sherri Barberic of Sarasota, FL; step children, Kimberly (Larry) Lorton, Melissa (Kyle) Fligg, Leslie (Kim) Shepherd; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; siblings, Ritzanna (Duane) Seaton of Batavia, Roselea Laubach of Solon, Rickie Kunzman of Knoxville, three nephews, and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Esther Kunzman. A Time to Celebrate Richard’s Life will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018, opening to the public at 1:00 p.m. and Richard’s family will be present to greet friends from 4 - 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. Richard’s body will be cremated following the celebration time, and a burial of remains will be held at a later date in Eldon Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
