Dennis (Denny) Weems, age 66, passed away on Monday, February 25th, 2019 at his home in Melrose, Iowa. He was born in Des Moines to Lloyd and Dorothy (Thomas) Weems.
To send flowers in memory of Dennis Edward Weems, please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
Denny worked for John Deere before moving back home to Des Moines to help care for his parents until their passing. He was a free spirit who lived life the way he wanted to. He loved feeling the wind in his hair, whether he was on the water, fishing in his boat or going for a ride on his Harley. He loved trying new things and experiences. In fact, he was a talented cook, with a passion for bbq, who enjoyed experimenting with traditional dishes to make them unique (and in his opinion- better). Most of all, he was fiercely protective of his family and friends. Denny had a big personality that was hard to ignore and he will be missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his daughters, Lori (Terry) Elvrom and Carrie Weems; grandchildren, Paige, Lydia, Thomas and Cooper; brother, Richard (Cindy) Weems; nephew, Jason (Ashley) Weems; great niece, Kinsley, as well as several other extended family members.
Please join us at Green Acres (5347 Morman Trail Melrose, IA 52569) to remember Denny Weems on Saturday, 6/22 at 12:00 noon. True to his style, we will have a simple and comfortable gathering of friends and family to remember, reminisce and share memories. We will have a BBQ lunch- the meat will be provided. If you can, bring a salad, side dish or dessert to contribute and BYOB, if you wish. Please indicate if you are able to attend so we know how much BBQ to provide and thank you! Last, if you know of any others who would like to attend and who are not in this group/on this page, please spread the word. We are looking forward to spending some time with people who knew and loved him
