Obituary for Barbara Ann Hope

Barbara Ann Hope, age 79, of Albia, died on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines after complications from a fall. She was born on April 19, 1938 in Moravia, Iowa to Harry and Mary (McAninch) Robinson. She married Max Hope on March 10, 1957, and they were blessed with 4 children: Vicki, Linda, Mary Jo, and Max Jr. She worked at the Gambles Store in Albia, and also was a waitress at various restaurants in Albia. Barbara was an avid reader. She enjoyed going out for coffee and pie with friends, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Vicki (Dale) Chidester of Austin, MN, Linda (Doug) Malone of Albia, Mary Jo Fugate of Albia, Max Hope Jr. of Albia; grandchildren, Lyna (Dustin)Tschann, Joseph Chidester and Jenna, Maggie Chidester, Terra Malone and Scott, Mark Malone, Brittany Malone and Daniel, Dillion Malone, Nicholas (Lindsey) Fugate, Lindsay Hackett and Brad, Maddison Hope and Jason, Hunter Hope, eleven great grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Wanda Robinson of Moravia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Mary Robinson, husband, Max Hope Sr., and siblings, Bob Robinson, Dean Robinson, and Marilois Frazier. Funeral Services will be on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. Barbara’s body will be cremated following services, and inurnment will be held at a later date in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, south of Albia. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia, opening to the public at 1:00 p.m., and family will be present to greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at sinnottfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are entrusted with Sinnott Funeral Homes.
