Alice Irene Kerr, age 71 of Havana, FL (previously of Albia, IA) went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, December 22, 2012. She was tenderly cared for by her family and Monroe County Hospice. She passed away at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia.
She was born on June 20, 1941 to Marion Harrison Rowe and Gladys Irene (Somers) Rowe. Alice attend and graduated from The Villa de Chantal (a Catholic girls' boarding school) in Rock Island, IL. After graduation, she worked with her father, Marion, as a bookkeeper at a car dealership and continued her diligent bookkeeping career throughout her lifetime.
Alice and Ray Murl Kerr were united in marriage on June 8, 1960. From that union were born five children. In addition to her career, she was the utmost devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her heart also belonged to her beloved Tyke (her Sheltie dog).
Alice's fulfillment in life was anything involving her family, horses including horseback riding, shopping with & for her family, visiting friends and family, traveling and watching old movies and Christmas shows. Alice never knew stranger and was the most selfless person anyone would ever know. Her multitude of friends and unwavering love of her family is a testimony to the life she lived.
Alice is survived by four children; Kimberley (Michael) Barber of Des Moines, IA; Lisa (Larrie) Jemison of Havana, FL; Gary (Jerron) Kerr of Donahue, IA; Diana (Wayne) Williams of Albia, IA, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, her sister-in-law and two nieces, several aunts, uncles and cousins and dog. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter (Deborah), her father, mother, step-mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2012 at 12:30 pm in Hayden Chapel Cemetery near Eddyville with Pastor Brad Gray officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to Monroe County Hospice. Online condolences may be left at sinnottfuneralhome.com
